Human Nature

Aussie Motown
We have to be honest. It took some convincing to make us buy tickets to see Human Nature. We heard a number of people in Vegas talk about Human Nature but we simply didn’t get it. Four young Australian guys singing the best Motown songs ever recorded? No that couldn’t be worth our money. But a couple of friends (who knew we were big Motown fans) remained persistant, we had to go see the show! So eventually we gave in and bought tickets to see Human Nature at Imperial Palace (now The Linq).

When we walked into the Imperial Palace our enthousiasm wasn’t exactly growing by the minute. The Imperial Palace looked like a disaster, we just hoped the show wasn’t the same. We got our tickets, paid $130 for 2 tickets and got out of the Imperial Palace as fast as we could since we had a couple of hours to kill before the show started.

We went for a walk and took the time to have a nice dinner. After a couple of hours we returned to the Imperial Palace, ready to be surprised. We were seated and ordered a drink. The Imperial Palace showroom is relatively small so everybody attending the show had a good view of the stage.

The showroom went dark and on a big screen Smokey Robinson appeared and introduced us to the Motown sensation from down under. The intro ended, the showroom went dark and the music started. And there they were……Human Nature. The party started right away and we were pleasantly surprised. These guys could sing!

They performed classic Motown songs like “I Heard It Through The Grapevine”, “Reach Out”, “Baby I Need Your Loving”, “STOP! In The Name Of Love”, “My Girl”, “You are Everything” and more. Their show was filled with classic Motown dance moves and they had the crowd out of their seats within minutes. Everybody was dancing and visibly enjoying themselves. Great voices, they hit every high note in every song. Wow, we sure weren’t prepared for this but we loved every minute of the show.

Towards the end of the show they performed Smokey Robinson’s hit song “Ooo Baby Baby”. We’re big Smokey Robinson fans BUT we liked the Human Nature version of the song BETTER than the original. That says a lot about the quality of their voices and performance.

The show lasted a little over 1,5 hours and we can’t express how happy we were with our decision to go see Human Nature. When the show ended the guys invited everybody to come into the lobby, shake hands and buy their CD/DVD or show program and have it signed. We walked out of the showroom and the lobby was packed. We got the chance to shake hands, take a picture and in the process we bought two CD’s, a DVD of a live performance in Melbourne and had all the itmes signed.

We still listen to the Human Nature CD’s a lot and we’ve seen their show 3 times since the first time we went. We still enjoy their show as much as we did the first time. At the end of 2012 they left Imperial Palace/The Quad and signed a new contract at the Venetian where they are perfoming now. In other words, they traded up. We can’t wait to see them again! If you like Motown music, don’t hesitate and go see Human Nature. We’re confident you’ll like them!

  2. My favorite show in Las Vegas, they do a great high-energy and very entertaining show. No one that I’ve taken with me to the show has been disappointed. However I’ve heard the Venetian is not renewing their contract at the end of 2015. Hopefully another Vegas theater will sign them up.

The article has a typo in first paragraph:
“Four young Australian guys signing” – should be “singing”.
