Boyz II Men, March 2013 Mirage Theatre
Back to our teen years. We grew up with Boyz II Men so when we heard they scored a residency deal at the Mirage we knew we just had to go see them. We made sure we booked our tickets a couple of months before our trip to Vegas. We wanted to have good seats so we contacted the Mirage to see if we could get seats close to the stage. As close as possible! We were thrilled to hear we could get seats 1 and 2 on the second row, about as close to the stage as one can get. Score!!!

March 13, we arrived at the Mirage Theater at 6.45 p.m. We had 45 minutes to get some drinks so we didn’t have to rush. Since we had been to the Mirage Theater before we knew we had great seats to take pictures and we hoped they would allow us to take pictures during the show. At most headliner shows you’re not allowed to film or take pictures. The camera flashes can get pretty annoying for the performers so we can understand why they don’t allow it. At the Boyz II Men show it’s not a problem though. They tell you before the show you can take as many pictures as you want, the men are used to it.

Michael McCary is no longer part of Boyz II Men. But that didn’t make a lot of difference. Wanya Morris, Shawn Stockman and Nathan Morris had everybody out there seats within minutes. When they started “Motownphilly”, the Mirage Theater exploded! The audience consisted of people in the age range of 35 to 65 years. To the young hipster crowd that may seem old but believe us, the entire theater was jumping and dancing. We all gained some weight through the years and probably lost some hair but everybody was acting like a bunch of 18 year old kids. There’s a lot of interaction with the audience during the show and the men can still sign like they could during the peak of their careers. Great voices, they truly are amazing.

They change outfits frequently during the show and they threated us to a Motown Medley singing songs of The Four Tops and The Temptations (My Girl, The Same Old Song, Tracks of my Tears, etc.). They recorded these songs and made an album called “Motown Hitzville”. So if you’re a true Motown lover, you might want to get that one.

The show lasted about 1,5 hours and they performed hits like “Down on bended knees”, “End of the road” and “I’ll make love to you”. It was extra special for us to see a guy we know (John John) play in the band. After the show we found him in the Mirage casino, decided to visit some mutual friends at the Tropicana Lounge and enjoyed a drink.

One of the last songs they did was “I’ll make love to you”. The men invited all the women to come to the stage and they handed out red roses to them. So, as a result, all the women were back in love again. They even take the time to take pictures with guests during the show while they were singing their songs.

To make a long story short. This was one of the best shows we’ve ever seen. We enjoyed ourselves from beginning to end and the men still have amazing voices and moves. They know how to deliver a quality performance, they deserve all the compliments they can get. So if you grew up with Boyz II Men (or just like their music) don’t hesitate for a second. Buy those tickets and go see them!
