Webmaster’s March 2013 stay in a Stratosphere Select Room
After a 5 hour delay at Chicago O’Hare Airport because of a maintenance issue with our plane we arrived at the Stratosphere around midnight. There was a short waiting line at the front desk, check-in took about 15 minutes and the lady at the front desk helping us was very friendly. We were assigned room 23.013 overlooking the parking garage and we had a partial view of the pool.
We had a Stratosphere Select Room with a king bed. The room was clean and looked fresh. This was one of the fairly recent renovated rooms. It had an in-room safe, LCD TV, iron and ironing board, hairdryer, ice bucket, all the basic amenities you would expect. A very nice, unexpected bonus was the Jacuzzi tub in the bathroom. It was large enough to fit us both. After a 28½ hours door to door trip we decided to enjoy the Jacuzzi tub right away before turning in for the night. The only complaint about the room we could come up with was the water pressure in the shower. It was non-existant. The beds and pillows were very comfortable so getting some rest during the two nights we stayed there was no problem at all.
We really like how they renovated the casino and the front desk. Everything looked new and clean. Cocktail service in the casino was great, we never had to wait more than 10 minutes before a waitress came by to offer us a drink and the casino was very busy. The weather was great so we got some time to sit down and relax at the pool. The staff at the pool bar was fun and service was great. The entrance to the pool could use some work though. It looked a little cheap compared to the rest of the resort.
Some general comments about the Stratosphere
• The Stratosphere has improved a great deal since their recent 20 million dollar renovations
• We went to see the new show Pin Up. When we visited the show was running for about a week and we must say we were impressed. Claire Sinclair is the one attracting the crowd, the rest of the crew deserve most of the credits for the show’s quality. When you’re staying at the Strat you will get 2 for 1 showtickets and that’s a pretty sweet deal.
• The Stratosphere is a great place for the budget minded traveler. Drinks at the pool and theater are relatively cheap compared to most Strip resorts. We paid $2.25 for a coke
• The staff was friendly and courteous, overall the Stratosphere is a great value for money! We had a great stay and we really recommend the Stratosphere for people who like to enjoy both the Strip and Downtown because it’s located right in the middle
